Testimonial from the Nov. 14, 2015 Liference in Raliegh, NC:
From: Gregory Whitt Date: November 16, 2016 Subject: Jana Broder's Workshop
Over the years I’ve read most of the books and have attended the majority of the different types of trainings on drum circle facilitation. The piece that is missing in ALL of them is how to run an arts-based business. Jana Broder is filling that gap with a new program. This weekend I hosted “The Drum Magic Way of Life” here in Raleigh, NC and fifteen of us turned out to soak up some of that wisdom and experience.
Jana has been in this business for fourteen years. She has perfected a unique style of rhythm event, but more importantly she has created a consistently successful business model. Sure, I know we likely didn’t go into this line of work for the money. We all love drumming because it makes people feel great and creates truly wonderful connections. AND if you’re like me, you’ve discovered that a love for drumming isn’t going to be enough to pay the bills.
If you’ve been at this a while, you know there are a lot of other pieces that need to line up. Beyond the slicing and dicing of drum circles, there’s the accounting, marketing, contact management, gear selection, transportation choices, website set up, pricing, proposals…. the list goes on and on! Jana has that worked out in a systematic and organized way to help you run a successful business using rhythm as the method and drums as the tool to earn your living doing this worthy work in the world.
Jana has been a dear friend and mentor to me for years. When it came to building my business, her advice has been nothing but gold. I can’t recommend this highly enough for those of you who want to leave your day job and drum with people for your living. It’s great work. She’s a great teacher, and she’s my trusted advisor. I’ve been at this full-time for six year and my successes are in large part due to lessons learned from Jana.
If you’re seriously considering drum circling as a livelihood, if you’re ready to move beyond surviving into thriving, and if you value working smarter rather than harder, you’ll want to get in on this workshop. You’ve missed this session, but perhaps you could host one of your own for the facilitators in your region…. http://drummagic.net/announcements/193-the-drum-magic-way-of-life
in rhythm & gratitude, -Greg

Orlando, FL: Drum Magic, LLC, based out of the Tampa Bay area expands into Orlando and Orange County with the addition of a second trailer filled with 80 djembe drums. Drum Magic has another trailer filled with 200 drums that travels with Jana Broder, drum circle facilitator and owner of Drum Magic, across Florida and the US as far away as New England.
Broder explains, “Due to the increasing popularity and demand for Drum Magic’s corporate team building drum circles in central Florida, the need to have a second trailer with 80 drums available and a resident facilitator in the Orlando area became a necessity.”
Jason Isla is Drum Magic’s Orlando facilitator. Along with an infectious smile, Jason brings years of teaching and musical performance experience into each Drum Magic drum circle.
A musician since childhood, Jason discovered drumming while preparing for extended volunteer work in Southern Africa in 1997. He has been sharing this passion through classes, performances, and community drum groups since he returned in 1998. For 10 years Jason taught social studies and coached multiple sports in Central Florida. In 2007 Jason studied with Kalani (Drum Circle Music, REMO) and soon after met Jana Broder of Drum Magic. He began working with Drum Magic immediately and Jana became his mentor in the creation of his facilitation and drum repair business, Giving World Percussion. In 2014, Jason and Jana joined forces to develop Drum Magic Orlando and the future of Drum Magic USA.
“Jason has been working with me for seven years and I am excited that he is facilitating Drum Magic corporate drum circles in the Orlando area,” states Broder, “His experience and skills make him a powerfully effective facilitator in the corporate setting.”
Drum Magic corporate drum circles are extremely valuable as team building activities. “Drumming an energetic rhythm together as a single unit breaks down a wide range of barriers between individuals. I see this happen every day and the results are simply amazing,” exclaims Broder with a gleam in her eye, “Staff and management interact with smiles and laughter, sometimes for the first time. Participants of the corporate drum circle often getting up to dance in the middle of the drum circle while their co-workers continue to drum an exciting beat.” A recent testimonial after a WellDyneRx Annual Team Meeting drum circle states, “Overwhelmingly, the drum circle was the highlight of the week. And the smiles carried over to the next day when we were all back in the office. Things seemed to go smoother and spirits were still high.”
Drum circles are also very popular and highly effective as conference openers and ice breaking activities. According to Broder, “During the drum circle, a large group of total strangers get to know each other while enjoying and sharing a bonding experience that will carry through an entire conference and beyond.”
In addition to Drum Magic’s corporate presence, drum circle activities are being held in schools, senior centers, youth centers, prisons, and other venues where participants may enjoy the wide range of valuable benefits of drumming together.

"What should I expect when Drum Magic drums with my corporate team?"
Every corporate drum circle event is totally unique, yet they all have some very important core experiences that are the same. This is partly why they are so successful for bringing your team together in a wide variety of settings and purposes.
The experience begins with anticipation, excitement, and even some nervousness as your participants enter the room and take their seats.
With an African djembe drum in front of every chair, vibrant discussions spring up with a few people sharing past drumming experiences while others comment they have never touched a drum in their entire lives. Smiles and comical expressions fill the room as everybody takes a seat awaiting what is definitely going to be something interesting and fun.
The first wave of drumming is a powerful release of tension. Study after study has proven that drumming in a corporate environment relieves stress among staff and management.
Within a few minutes even people who have never drummed before are beating their hands on the drums in a rhythm where everybody has a part.
Jana and her Drum Magic will lead your group through some simple rhythms that build up energy and release anxiety that allows each participant to enjoy an invigorating personal experience while at the same time sharing a collective encounter with the group.
At some point during your event, past social barriers and communication walls between staff and management dissolve, personal disputes between individuals seem to evaporate with the beating rhythms, and a sense of familiarity and friendly bonding takes hold.
One of the most important qualities of group drumming is the fact that it builds community among all who drum together.
During this special part of the corporate drum circle when any prior stress and tension has turned into just plain and simple energetic fun, corporate messages and slogans may be integrated into familiar rhythms bringing a deeply felt commitment towards your company and workplace.
An openness to motivational concepts and positive messages are shared by everyone.
Many times the message is permanently branded into participants memories to be triggered by simple beats or images.
As your corporate drumming events reaches the final moments, it is very common for people to get up and dance. You will often see some of your most reserved co-workers dancing ecstatically with some of your most outrageous.
Hands become warm and tender from drumming, a few people may be working up a gentle sweat, others realize they have not felt so relaxed in months, and bright happy smiles fill the room.
